2016 Environmental Engineering and Science Resource Guidebook - Sign Up for Your Listing

The Academy invites you to sign up for a listing in the 2016 Environmental Engineering and Science Resource Guidebook. We are releasing the Guidebook in both electronic and print format to make this year's edition easier to use and easier to distribute to individuals and organizations looking to connect with environmental specialists. We are expanding the content that each listing receives – enabling web links in the e-version and providing more room to post information on your specialties in both versions. We expect to print and distribute the new publication more widely than we have in the past, with a special focus on outreach at the trade events and conferences we attend during the year. We are also planning an expanded role for the Guidebook in making federal, state, and local agencies aware of the capabilities of our members in helping deal with current environmental engineering needs.

Ask your organization to reserve its space by January 15, 2016. It's great exposure for a low cost. For details, email JSOlmo@aaees.org. To download the reservation form, click here.

October 22, 2015 - Summit: Attaining a Sustainable Wet Infrastructure for Southern California - AAEES has assembled the leadership of the largest public water agencies in the Southern California area for a one-day program designed to provide perspective and insight on the issues they are facing in trying to meet current and future demands on their water infrastructure. This one-of-a-kind event will enable attendees to learn about the strategies that these agencies are employing in addressing the limitations that the current drought is imposing on Southern California and its ability to meet water demands. More importantly, the speakers will also focus on the options available for defining a 'new normal', and what that means for planning, designing, and building a water infrastructure that will accommodate their evolving reality.

The Academy is partnering with the Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering at Loyola Marymount University in presenting this program. The Summit is designed for anyone working in the area of water issues and sustainability. We view the Summit as an opportunity for networking and best practice sharing among sustainability practitioners.

Rather than prepare a structured agenda for the Summit, we have taken the other option of simply developing a suggested theme and having our speakers address that theme in the way they see most appropriate and relevant given the nature of their operations. Our intent in holding the Summit is to cast light on what the individual agencies are doing to meet their sustainability challenges. From that we expect to reveal and discuss areas of cooperation and partnership that might be developed to create new approaches for dealing with the issues being faced across the entire Southern California region.

October 22, 2015 - Summit: Building a Sustainable Wet Infrastructure for Southern California - AAEES has assembled the leadership of the largest public water agencies in the Southern California area for a one-day program designed to provide perspective and insight on the issues they are facing in trying to meet current and future demands on their water infrastructure.

Nominations for AAEES Representative to the ABET Board of Delegates

The AAEES Education Committee is soliciting nominations for the position of AAEES Delegate to the ABET Board of Delegates.

The ABET Board of Delegates meets twice per year (usually in or near Baltimore, MD). The ABET Board of Delegates is responsible for oversight of accreditation operations, election of the ABET Board of Directors, and representing sponsoring organizations. Delegates serve a term of three years, and may be reappointed a maximum of one time for a total of six years. The AAEES Delegate also serves on one or more of the three ABET Area Delegations that meet at the same time. The three Area Delegations to which AAEES will have representation are the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC), the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC), and the Applied Science Accreditation Commission (ASAC). Area and Board Delegates of ABET may not serve in multiple roles as Delegate, Officer, Director, or Commissioner.

Preferred qualifications for this appointment include experience as an ABET Program Evaluator and experience as a member of one of the ABET commissions, although exceptional candidates without these qualifications are also encouraged to apply. If you are interested in being considered for an appointment either as the AAEES Delegate or Alternate Delegate, or would like to nominate someone else, please forward your nomination(s) to the Chair of the AAEES Education Committee, David Chin at dchin@miami.edu.
